So often, the ability to de-stress and release the emotions that weigh on people is taken for granted or skipped over completely, but in order to be refreshed, truly present and learn, it is vital. “Through guided sound baths led by Tonic Treks, caregivers were able to slow down, breathe, and care for themselves in ways they rarely get to,” says Samantha. Caregivers then broke out into three separate Affinity Groups. Jamia Pennington, an occupational therapist, helped caregiver parents who have children with special needs better understand how to use 504 plans and IEPs to advocate for their children in school. We may not be aware of where our frustration may be coming from, but it could be coming from clutter, not having organization, and holding on to things we no longer use or wear. One self-care tip I use for myself is to regularly go through my home and throw away items I no longer find useful. Sometimes we think we may use those items and they end up just collecting dust in the end! Since Spring is among us, this is the perfect time for you to do the same, if you have been feeling like your space is affecting your self-care.
