Our ChanceTN Hosts Hiring Event, Provides Caregivers with Real-Time Interviews
A Caregiver is interviewed for job position by Heart of the House Hospitality at the Our ChanceTN Loves You Hiring Event
Nashville, TN — Our ChanceTN, a pilot program of the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM) dedicated to helping individuals in low-income households overcome benefits cliffs, recently hosted Our ChanceTN Loves You, a Valentine’s-themed hiring event designed to connect caregivers with immediate employment opportunities.
The event allowed caregivers to set intentions for the year, refresh their resumes, and participate in real-time interviews with YMCA, AutoZone, and Heart of the House Hospitality. Hosted at Greenhouse Ministries in Murfreesboro, the gathering ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., making it accessible for caregivers balancing busy morning schedules. Breakfast was provided by Chick-fil-A, and van shuttle service was offered to participants traveling from Davidson County — another way Our ChanceTN works to meet caregivers where they are as they take steps toward economic mobility.
“It was a wonderful time of connection, encouragement, and opportunity,” said Samantha Sharpe, TAEM Peer Leadership Manager + Partner Meeting Lead. “Connecting our caregivers with opportunities is always rewarding, and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.”
A key priority in planning the event was bringing in employers ready to offer meaningful conversations and real-time interviews. Our ChanceTN was grateful for the strong participation from partner organizations, a sentiment echoed by those in attendance.
“The Our ChanceTN Loves You breakfast event was a great success,” said Eric Lake, TAEM Employee Relations Coordinator. “It was inspiring to connect face-to-face with so many caregivers. Employers conducting on-site interviews shared how much they appreciated meeting such motivated individuals and expressed interest in partnering again soon. The event was a strong reminder of how connection and collaboration help create real opportunities for the community we serve.”

Our ChanceTN is a part of a study funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services which is being conducted to determine how these pilot programs help people improve their economic well-being. During the study, all new eligible applicants will be randomly selected into one of two/three groups that receive a different mix of program services.
The Tennessee Opportunity Pilot Initiative (TOPI) is brought forth by the Tennessee Department of Human Services and TANF Opportunity Act. This initiative will help individuals, families, and the state of Tennessee by creating a new vision for the Tennessee social safety net and is dedicated to helping low-income families grow beyond their vulnerabilities. TOPI empowers all Tennesseans by partnering with local organizations to reach deep into their communities and work shoulder to shoulder with individuals and families, growing their capacity to take on life’s challenges and reduce their dependence on the social safety net.
