Our ChanceTN Hosts Winter Meet & Greet for Caregivers

A caregiver poses with her child at the Winter Meet & Greet Friday, Nov 21st

The holiday meet and greet was an inspirational night for me and my family. My favorite part of the night was the family Christmas photo shoot. Seeing the smiles on each family’s face as they gathered together on the couch for their pictures truly warmed my heart. I enjoyed being a part of this event, from the hours of planning, to helping set up, and finally the ability to be able to participate in such a great experience.

This year’s Holiday Caregiver Meet and Greet was a tremendous success, thanks to the teamwork and dedication of every staff member involved. I was personally impressed by the level of collaboration in setting up and breaking down the event; everyone jumped in to help wherever needed. The highlight for me was watching the families enjoy the catered meal and activities, particularly the professional family photos. Seeing the families dressed up and taking part in the photo shoot was truly a blessing. It was an honor to be part of such a successful event and to see the fruits of our labor. Witnessing the positive impact OUR CHANCE TN has on our community is one of the most satisfying parts of my career.

Looking back at the winter meet-and-greet at Martha O’Bryan, I’d say it was an absolutely wonderful event. My favorite moment was sharing dinner with all the families. Seeing everyone gathered at one table, enjoying a meal together in the same room, created a warm and loving environment. From planning the event, to welcoming families, helping with the children’s activities. The entire evening was special, but that shared meal truly stood out as the heart of the event.

Our ChanceTN is a part of a study funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services which is being conducted to determine how these pilot programs help people improve their economic well-being. During the study, all new eligible applicants will be randomly selected into one of two/three groups that receive a different mix of program services.

The Tennessee Opportunity Pilot Initiative (TOPI) is brought forth by the Tennessee Department of Human Services and TANF Opportunity Act. This initiative will help individuals, families, and the state of Tennessee by creating a new vision for the Tennessee social safety net and is dedicated to helping low-income families grow beyond their vulnerabilities. TOPI empowers all Tennesseans by partnering with local organizations to reach deep into their communities and work shoulder to shoulder with individuals and families, growing their capacity to take on life’s challenges and reduce their dependence on the social safety net.
